Fleet at Causeway
Pencil (6-B)
This is a view I see whenever I leave or come home. I am trying to get a feel for it when I am not driving past it. It is too wide to see all at once, or to draw big enough to see on 9 x 12" paper. Driving makes it look so different, too! Then the view is is scrolling past me - or I scroll past it.
I want to do a painting of this view, preferably on a grey day when there is snow on the ground. The wind really whips up the river valley; then my easel won't stay standing. Since the tide must be high to see the boats, this doesn't give a lot of opportunities.

so good to see your drawings again! A great idea for a painting... Maybe you could do a really large panoramic one, made up of smaller canvasses, like David Hockney has done.
Oooo! A great idea - a line of smaller paintings! These are really nice studies for them, too.
Ohh - I LIKE that Hockney idea! I love his work, get inspired reading his words (am reading That's the Way I see It right now.
It feels so good to be back drawing!
